The weekly classes provide an excellent opportunity for children to learn coding through MIT Scratch. Students will build games, quizzes and animations using Scratch.
Introduction to Coding
CODE & MAKE – Scratch Programming and Google CS First
Suitable for 6 +
The Coding course aims to develop computational thinking and programming logic through Scratch Programming and Google CS First. Scratch is a block-based visual programming language, developed by the Lifelong Kindergarten group at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Students will create interactive stories, games, quizzes, animations, music, art and various other types of projects using Scratch. As children create with Scratch, they learn to think creatively, work collaboratively, and reason systematically — essential skills for life in the 21st century.
Google CS (Computer Science) First clubs aim to inspire students to create with technology. Google has developed materials to promote computer science to young students. Close to a million students globally have participated in the Google CS First coding clubs.
We use the curriculum and resources developed by Google and MIT to introduce students to coding.
This course module will cover
- Introduction to block based coding
- Basic concepts such as algorithms and sequencing
- Programming concepts including loops and variables
- Computational concepts such as iteration and conditionals
- Writing block codes, simulating and debugging on the editor
- Computer science projects around different themes
Kids will learn coding in fun and interactive way, giving them a chance to unleash their creative side by adding their personal spin into the projects.
